I admit, I have an obsession. I love collecting images, building stories and creating moodboard’s. I can’t help myself. It sounds a bit crazy but I can look at a group of images, close my eyes and start arranging the ideas in my head. This is when the project starts to come to life.
If you are reading this thinking what is this woman talking about… Please check out my guide to Planning your own wedding moodboard’s here.
KEY NOTES FOR OUR WEDDING PLANNER
Color Palette
Being that we are getting married in Barbados, I wanted to stick to the natural palette of the island. The venue is a polo club with tall trees, open skies and beautiful fields. We chose shades of green, and white as our main colors.
Lighting and Florals.
If you are getting married outdoors I highly recommend a clear tent for your reception. We are planning on bringing the lush tropical vibe of the island into the tent by hanging local greenery, using big palms and white flowers. Also everything has to twinkle. So candles, globe lights and sparklers are a must.
Décor & Vibe.
We want everyone to feel comfortable. So no assigned seats, open bar and eat when you’re ready. Our overall décor is inspired by a minimal approach. With a blank canvas the first thing you do is paint it white. Everything in our wedding decor white. Is this a copout? Maybe. Does this also save time and money. Yes! The end result is that the guests and experience become the focus. The décor isn’t loud and overwhelming, just the music and the love.
Make sure that your partner is involved in the process. Remember you aren’t marring yourself.
